Herne Bay Sport Hub: State-of-the-art 3G hockey pitches officially opened on site of former golf club

The first phase of the Herne Bay Sports Hub has been officially opened at

Parkland Road,

Off Braid Drive

Herne Bay, Kent CT6 5DN

Currently neither Herne Bay Hockey Club or Herne Bay Youth FC are able to play or train at the site due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Hopefully they will be able to restart using the fantastic facilities provided by Quinn Estates and NewmaQuinn Commercial when the pavilion is completed by the 1st October. Herne Bay Tennis Club also hope to move from their Beacon Road premises at the same time and start to use their 6 floodlit state of the art new courts and clubhouse.

The unveiling of the hockey pitches on the site of the former Herne Bay Golf Club, provides a long-awaited new home for Herne Bay Hockey Club after years without a permanent ground.

The 3G football pitch has now been completed at HBSH and the junior football club have started to play on it. The 6 MatchPlay tennis courts are also finished and Herne Bay tennis club eagerly await the completion of their clubhouse so they can also move to the site. Work has  started on the cricket pitch but with seeding of the pitch yet to take place the cricket club will not be playing at the hub until the 2021 season.

Construction of the 2 storey pavilion is underway and it should be completed by October 2020
